Mastering the retro aesthetic requires more than just design—it demands uncompromising craftsmanship. Explore how CASAWAVE translated a breathtaking 3D concept into absolute reality using the 2025 Milan trending finishes.
The Singapore Interior Design industry is filled with beautiful 3D renders that fail during execution. At CASAWAVE, our in-house factory and dedicated installation team guarantee a 1:1 pixel-perfect delivery (1:1 还原效果图落地).
The soul of Mid-Century Modern lies in the warmth of the wood. Following the trends of the 2025 Milan Exhibition, Teak (柚木色) has returned as the ultimate symbol of retro luxury.
For this project, we specified the Ebesta ST517 (Teak) and Yuewen PT201 (Off-White) decorative finishes — both applied on FUREN F4★ board, the zero-formaldehyde, Finnish-pine-core substrate we use as standard for enclosed living spaces. The finish you see is only half the story; what sits underneath determines how the cabinetry holds up over years of Singapore humidity.
The contrast between the deep, authentic wood grains and the crisp white panels creates a sophisticated visual hierarchy that elevates the entire home.
Standard carpentry cannot achieve this level of refinement. The defining feature of this project is the use of ultra-narrow "Skeleton Lines" (极窄骨骼线) paired with brushed copper handles — slim, precisely-aligned reveals that outline each cabinet like the seams of a bespoke suit.
Skeleton lines are unforgiving to build: the panels must be perfectly straight, the gaps consistent to the millimetre, and every exposed edge sealed cleanly enough to survive close inspection. This is where board quality and edge sealing matter most — a narrow reveal exposes any weakness in the edge banding. We use PUR / laser edge banding precisely so these fine lines stay crisp and moisture-tight over time.
For the central display cabinets, we discarded bulky traditional hinges. Instead, the glass doors are engineered with high-end Arcde Pin Hinges (阿克德针式铰链) — pivot hardware mounted on a concealed top-and-bottom axis rather than on the door's side edge.
Because nothing is visible along the door frame, the glass appears to float and rotate on an invisible spindle, with soft, controlled motion. It is the detail that turns a display cabinet from "storage" into a piece of furniture — and it only works when the surrounding carpentry is square to the millimetre, which ties directly back to the skeleton-line precision above.
